It suits couples and first-timers who want a complete day with the tasting fees, lunch and drives already paid. It suits less if you want a long list of cellar doors, an early lunch, or more white wines. One guest asked for more whites, and lunch comes after the third tasting.

You take the 10am ferry from Auckland at your own cost, land at Matiatia around 10:35 and meet a guide holding a signboard. The tour leaves at 10:40 for three vineyards, about 40 minutes each, with short drives and commentary in between. Lunch at Three Seven Two starts around 2pm, and the day ends about 4pm.
The sample plan runs Mudbrick at 11am, Goldie at noon and Te Motu at 1pm, with the note that vineyards can change with the season and are replaced by others of equal quality. At each one you are hosted rather than queued, and guests say the staff were ready for the group when it arrived. Every tasting fee is already paid, so there is nothing to settle at the counter.
Lunch is one course with a glass of Waiheke wine or a beer at Three Seven Two, an award-winning restaurant on the Onetangi beachfront, for about 75 minutes. Tell the operator about allergies when you book. From about 4pm you either ride back to Matiatia for the ferry or ask to be dropped in Oneroa village to stay on.

NZ$285 (≈US$162) per person for the tour; NZ$350 (≈US$199) with the return ferry, and that is close to the whole day, because tastings and lunch are paid. It costs NZ$5 less than the Beach Front Lunch tour, which eats at the same restaurant, and NZ$95 more than the Scenic Wine Tour, where you buy your own lunch.

Guests praise the guides by name, from Grant in 2026 back to Nick and Janis, for friendliness and for pitching the wine talk at their level. They describe hosted tastings in charming settings and an excellent beachfront lunch. The few criticisms are about timing and taste: one wait for a late lunch, and one wish for more white wines.
“Most of the wines were very good to excellent, and the tasting venues had breathtaking charm.”
“At each winery they were ready for us and gave us a beautiful location to have our tastings at.”
“He really catered to our level of knowledge on wine (not much!) and we left the day having learnt so much.”

Same 5 hours, three vineyards and the same lunch table at Three Seven Two, only NZ$5 apart: the difference is how the tastings are led. The Essence of Waiheke, NZ$285, is hosted at each vineyard with all fees paid and names its plan. The Beach Front Lunch tour, NZ$290, has a sommelier leading every tasting and 607 reviews.

The tour leaves from Matiatia wharf on Waiheke at 10:40am, so you need the 10am ferry from Auckland, bought at your own cost. Fullers360 sails from the Downtown Ferry Terminal on Quay Street, about 40 minutes (35–45) across, and a guide with a signboard meets the boat. A pre-booked return ferry costs NZ$65 (≈US$37).

Contact the operator through GetYourGuide straight away and take the next sailing. The listing gives no late-arrival policy, but one January 2025 guest wrote that when part of the group missed the ferry, the guide added another winery stop so they still saw three. A walk-up Fullers ticket works on any sailing, so you will not lose the fare. Ferry options.

The listing names Matiatia wharf as the pick-up and drop-off, though a May 2024 guest was collected from their accommodation. The listing says no: it is marked not suitable for pregnant travellers, people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users, and every guest must be 18 or older with photo ID. A self-paced day on the ferry and hop-on hop-off bus is the more flexible alternative. Wine tour vs hop-on hop-off bus.
